Location: Mkuzi Game Reserve, situated in northern KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, was proclaimed a protected area in 1912.
The 40,000-hectare is renowned as a mecca for bird watchers, with a bird list well in excess of four hundred.
Predominantly flat and dry,
with sandy ridges which are ancient dunes, it harbours a wide diversity of wildlife.
Animals inhabiting the reserve include black and white rhinoceros, elephant, giraffe, hippo, the handsome nyala antelope, blue wildebeest, impala,
kudu, plus other smaller antelope.
