Location: Mkuzi Game Reserve, situated in northern KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, was proclaimed a protected area in 1912.
The 40,000-hectare is renowned as a mecca for bird watchers, with a bird list well in excess of four hundred.
Predominantly flat and dry,
with sandy ridges which are ancient dunes, it harbours an excepional diversity of natural habitats, ranging from the eastern slopes of the
Lebombo mountains to broad stretches of acacia savannah, swamps, woodlands and riverine forest.
